Cuba - between hiking and lounging
In Cuba, I discovered much more than magnificent landscapes, combining forests, mountains, sea and city.
It was in the simplicity of daily life, through exchanges with the locals, salsa lessons, coffee culture, cigars and walks, that I found the true richness of this country.
An excellent hike in a magnificent forest, where you can bathe in the cold, clear waters of the waterfall.
Our guide was absolutely remarkable, knowing the birds, trees and medicinal plants inside out. He spoke excellent English and explained all about coffee growing. We even got to drink coffee directly from the growers.
We were then taken by our very good cab driver to a local restaurant for a delicious buffet.
Once back, we visited the beautiful village of Trinidad.
Hiking in the Topes de Collantes Natural Park
I recommend that you take a stroll and get lost in the streets of Havana. It allowed me to discover its architectural and historical treasures. Music fills the streets, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere. Havana offers a unique adventure where past and present meet around every corner.
Hiking around Trinidad and Viñales allows you to discover the island's mountains and their magnificent landscapes. You can enjoy Cuba's calm and natural beauty, combining the history of Trinidad and the nature of Viñales for an unforgettable experience.
Varadero is perfect for relaxing, with its sunshine, turquoise waters and boat trips. This heavenly setting offers an ideal blend of relaxation and water sports.
The majority of hotels are located in Varadero, but I strongly advise you to explore the whole island.
As you move away from this area, you'll discover the real Cuban life.
For my part, I spent two nights in Havana, one night in Viñales, one night in Trinidad, and then the rest of my stay in Varadero to rest up.
I also encourage you to have fun dancing in the salsa bars.
