Itinerary
Shuttle home and transfer to Findel airport. Flight to Paris. Continue your flight to Johannesburg.
Arrival in Johannesburg in the morning. Lunch at the hotel. Transfer to the city center. Visit to the Apartheid Museum, world-renowned since its opening in 2001 as South Africa's premier museum of twentieth-century history, with a particular focus on the Apartheid period. Panoramic tour of the city. The financial capital of South Africa, Johannesburg is also a city of superlatives: the richest city in Africa, the tallest buildings, the greatest social disparities, but also one of the most beautiful atmospheres ever encountered. Welcome, installation, dinner and overnight in a 5* NL hotel.
Scheduled flight Johannesburg/Kasane in Botswana. Transfer to your CroisiEurope lodge by private boat. On the way, observe the different species of birds that inhabit these flooded plains, and perhaps catch the surprised gaze of one of the many hippos or a family of crocodiles lounging on the banks. Welcome and check-in at the lodge for total immersion in the heart of nature. Absolute peace and quiet guaranteed! Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
A day dedicated to discovering Chobé National Park. Exploration by 4x4 vehicle in this park, which is home to more than a quarter of Africa's pachyderm population. African lunch in the wild. After lunch, departure for a water safari in private boats on the Chobé River to the Sedudu Island swamps. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Departure for a village tour on Impalila Island, Namibia. Discover the traditional habitat and local way of life. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, a choice of activities: free time to relax at the lodge and enjoy the pool and comfortable facilities, or discover the Zambezi River by private boat. Dinner at the lodge. Your evening is rounded off by your guide, who will tell you all about the traditions of the island's inhabitants. Overnight at the lodge.
Departure from the lodge for a final water safari in the Chobé National Park region. Lunch on the water. Drive to Kasane airport. Discover the changing savannah panoramas and sublime views of Lake Kariba from the air on the private Kasane/Kariba flight. Transfer to your boat, boarding and installation on board. Start sailing on the lake. At 200km long and 40km wide, the lake has flooded plains, hills and forests, and its landscapes are now emblematic. Dinner and overnight on board.
At sunrise, sail through the symbolic and emblematic landscapes of Lake Kariba: the silhouettes of dried trees emerging from the waves are reflected in the water like in a mirror, giving the lake its mysterious atmosphere. Discover the small streams that meander through the Matusadona National Park on a private boat, and the species of animals they shelter; their meanders, wide bends and small wild creeks will plunge you into an enchanting atmosphere. Return and lunch on board. Afternoon sailing to Palm Bay. When the light becomes magical, take a private boat out to admire the pink sky. Dinner and overnight on board.
Morning safari to discover the Matusadona National Park region, located between the Sanyati and Ume rivers. Covering an area of over 1,400km², this wild territory is home to numerous species of animals including elephants, hippos, crocodiles and buffalo, as well as thousands of birds including the mythical African fish eagle, majestic yellow-billed storks and the black egret with its amazing fishing technique. And if we're lucky in the heart of the savannah, a feline may cross our path. The park's history is linked to that of the lake: when the waters rose during the construction of the dam, several thousand animals were rescued and taken to Matusadona, where hunting is strictly forbidden. This was the gigantic "Operation Noah", which saved large mammals, fawns and impalas. Lunch on board. Resumption of navigation and round-table discussion on the history of the lake, its inhabitants and ecosystem. Dinner and overnight on board.
Sunrise sail to Kariba. Disembarkation. On the way to the airport, discover the "dam wall", the gigantic dam that lifted the Zambezi out of its bed to create the lake in 1955, and which today supplies almost 70% of Zimbabwe's electricity. The story of the lake's creation will be told, along with the legends that surround it, including that of NyamiNyami, the spirit of the river. Private flight from Kariba to Victoria Falls. Lunch cruise on the Zambezi above the falls. In the afternoon, discover Victoria Falls on foot: the many vantage points are among the most exceptional on the planet: the Zambezi River plunges 108m into the world's largest cataract, a spectacle of "rumbling smoke" that David Livingstone dubbed "Victoria Falls". Dinner and overnight in a 4* NL hotel.
Breakfast. Optional: early morning helicopter flight over Victoria Falls (to be booked at time of registration). In the late morning, transfer to the airport and flight Victoria Falls / Paris (with stopover).
Arrival in Paris and flight to Luxembourg. Transfer to your home.
