What is the climate?
Peruvian climate is very varied: desert on the coast (little rain), temperate and dry in the Andes (dry season from May to October, rainy season from November to April), and tropically humid in the Amazon (heat and humidity all year round). The dry season in the Andes is the best time to visit Machu Picchu and go hiking.

What to eat? The local gastronomy
Peruvian cuisine is one of the best in the world. Taste the Ceviche (raw fish marinated in lime), the Lomo Saltado (stir-fried beef), theAji de Gallina (creamy spicy chicken) and the Pisco Sour (national cocktail). Potatoes and corn, native to the Andean region, are ubiquitous.

Practical tips for your trip to Peru
Peru is the birthplace of over 3,000 varieties of potatoes and is a global center for agricultural biodiversity, with thousands of varieties of corn and other tubers.
The currency is the Peruvian Sol (PEN). Bank cards are accepted in cities and major establishments. However, it is essential to have cash for small shops, markets, local transportation, and more remote areas. ATMs are available in cities.
The inhabitants are called Peruvians.
The official languages are Spanish and Quechua. English is spoken in tourist areas, but knowing a few Spanish words is very much appreciated.
You will find type A, B, and C outlets (American with two flat pins or European with two round pins). A universal adapter is highly recommended.
