Colombia is full of grand sites. Cartagena de Indias, with its walled city and colors, is an unforgettable experience. In the Zona Cafetera, visit traditional fincas. In Bogota, explore the La Candelaria district and the Gold Museum. Tayrona National Natural Park offers idyllic beaches and lush jungle. For adventure, the Tatacoa Desert and the Cocora Valley (giant wax palms) are must-sees.

The climate is extremely varied due to the country’s geographical diversity. Tropical along the coasts and in the lowlands, it becomes temperate to subtropical in the Andean mountains and cooler at high altitude. Seasons are defined by humidity rather than temperature (dry season and rainy season). The “dry season” (December–March and July–August) is generally preferred for travelling.

Colombian cuisine is hearty and flavourful. Try Ajiaco (chicken and potato soup), Bandeja Paisa (a typical dish from the Medellín region), Arepas (corn cakes), Caribbean fish ceviche and, of course, Colombian coffee. Exotic fruits are also a delight.
