Which trip to Greece is right for you?

Greece offers a wide range of experiences: paradise islands, ancient cities, authentic villages, and wild landscapes. Depending on your traveler profile, certain regions will better match what you’re looking for.

Practical tips for your trip to Greece

Greece has around 6,000 islands and islets, but only about 227 of them are inhabited. What’s more, the iconic blue color of the church domes in the Cyclades was originally used because it was inexpensive and was believed to ward off evil spirits.

The official currency in Greece is the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted in tourist areas, but it is always advisable to carry cash, especially on smaller islands, in isolated tavernas or small shops. ATMs are plentiful.

The official language is Modern Greek. English is very widely spoken in tourist areas. French and German are also spoken by part of the population working in tourism.

In Greece, electrical outlets are type F (sometimes also type C). The standard voltage is 230V and the frequency is 50Hz. French appliances work without an adapter.

Greece is a safe country. As everywhere, you just need to stay alert in very crowded areas.

By plane: direct flights or flights with a stopover to Athens and the main islands.
On site: ferries to reach the islands; car rental recommended in Crete or the Peloponnese.

The cost of living is generally lower than in Luxembourg, especially for dining out.

Greece is part of the European Union.

  • No visa required
