What is the climate like?

The climate is tropical, with two main seasons: a hot, humid season from November to April, and a drier, cooler season from May to October. Temperatures vary with altitude. The best times to travel are the local spring and autumn.

What to eat? Local cuisine

Réunion cuisine is a delight of spicy, fragrant flavors. Try cari (chicken, fish, pork), rougail saucisses (a dish made with pork sausages and tomatoes), samoussas and bonbons piment as appetizers, and rhum arrangé for digestion.

Piton de la Fournaise is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It erupts several times a year, offering incredible natural spectacles with no danger to the population.

The currency is the Euro (EUR). Bank cards are widely accepted. However, it is recommended to have a little cash for small shops and local markets.

The inhabitants are called Réunionnais and Réunionnaises.

The official language is French. Réunion Creole is also very widely spoken and understood. English is uncommon outside tourist areas.

You will find type E sockets. A universal adapter is generally not necessary if you are coming from Europe.
