Canada is full of exceptional sites.

Canada experiences a wide range of climates due to its size.

Canadian cuisine reflects its multiculturalism and regional products. Poutine (fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy) is an iconic dish from Quebec. Maple syrup is used in many dishes and desserts. Seafood is excellent on the coasts (lobster, salmon, scallops). Try Montreal smoked meat, tourtières (meat pies), and nanaimo bars (a dessert from British Columbia). Canada also produces renowned wines (notably ice wines from Ontario and British Columbia) and many craft beers.

Canada has more lakes than all the other countries in the world combined. It’s estimated there are more than two million!
The official currency is the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Credit cards are widely accepted everywhere. It’s useful to have a bit of cash for small purchases or in more remote areas. ATMs (called ATM or cash machines) are easy to find. Taxes (GST/HST and provincial tax) are generally not included in displayed prices and are added at checkout.
The people of Canada are called Canadians (male) and Canadians (female).
Canada has two official languages: English and French. English is the majority language in most provinces. French is the main language in Quebec and is also spoken in some communities in New Brunswick, Ontario, and Manitoba. Most government services are available in both languages.
In Canada, electrical outlets are type A and B. The standard voltage is 120V and the frequency is 60Hz. You’ll need an adapter for European plugs (type C/E/F) and potentially a voltage converter for devices that aren’t compatible with 120V.
