The Seychelles enjoy a warm tropical climate all year round, with temperatures ranging between 24°C and 32°C. Two monsoon seasons set the pace of the year, but no period is truly bad—each season has its advantages depending on the island you choose.
Best times — Shoulder season (April–May and October–November)
The months of April, May, October and November are unanimously recognized as the best times to visit the Seychelles. Little or no rain, calm seas, gentle winds, maximum underwater visibility: these transition months between the two monsoons offer ideal conditions for all kinds of activities.
SE monsoon (May to October) — Cool and windy season
The southeast monsoon brings steady cool breezes, rougher seas on Mahé’s east coast, and a risk of light rain. Nevertheless, it is a good period for Praslin and La Digue, which are sheltered by their orientation. Hotels are less busy and rates are more attractive.
NW monsoon (December to March) — Hot and humid season
The northwest monsoon brings heat, humidity and tropical rain (especially in the evening). The sea is calmer on Mahé’s west side. It is peak tourist season with higher prices. December and January remain very busy for the end-of-year holidays, despite an increased risk of rain.

Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles, is the beating heart of the archipelago. Beyond its capital Victoria with its colorful Creole market and shops, the island holds many surprises: the Morne Seychellois National Park and its jungle trails, secret beaches accessible on foot such as Anse Intendance, Anse Georgette or Beau Vallon, the popular one. Mahé is also the hotel hub with the best resorts in the archipelago.
Ideal for:
Not to be missed:
Praslin, the archipelago’s second island, is home to two of the Seychelles’ greatest wonders. The Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a prehistoric forest where the legendary Coco de Mer grows. Anse Lazio, regularly voted among the most beautiful beaches in the world, dazzles with its intensely turquoise waters fringed by pink granite boulders and tropical vegetation. Praslin is more intimate and unspoiled than Mahé, with an authentic island atmosphere.
Perfect for:
Good to know:
La Digue is the most unspoiled and most picturesque island in the Seychelles. Here, cars are almost non-existent — you get around by bike or oxcart along shaded roads between coconut palms and Creole houses. Anse Source d’Argent, the most photographed beach in the world, unfurls its red and ochre granite formations in shallow turquoise waters. The island pulses with a timeless atmosphere, gentle and authentic, far from any tourist frenzy.
Best for:
Note:
Beyond the Mahé–Praslin–La Digue trio, the Seychelles hide secret islands that are well worth a visit. Silhouette, the third-largest island and largely preserved, is a natural paradise with a single road and dense rainforest. Curieuse is home to a reserve of Aldabra giant tortoises where you can swim with them. Denis, a flat coral island, is one of the Seychelles’ best spots for big-game fishing. These islands can be reached by private speedboat or on an excursion from Praslin or Mahé.

Good to know:
The Seychelles’ Outer Islands are the ultimate frontier of a paradise escape. Aldabra, an atoll listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most protected areas in the world: home to the planet’s largest colony of giant tortoises, red-footed boobies, manta rays and whale sharks. The atolls of Alphonse and the Amirantes are Edens for fly-fishing enthusiasts and divers seeking pristine waters. These destinations are for travellers in search of the absolute.
For those seeking something truly exceptional:
Practical information:
The Seychelles come in many travel styles: a luxury beach stay in a 5-star resort, island hopping between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, diving in preserved marine reserves, or an adventure in the Outer Islands. Depending on your wishes, your budget and your favourite islands, the Seychelles offer you a unique experience.

The Seychelles as a family is an incomparable natural, sensory experience. The shallow waters of Anse Source d’Argent and Beau Vallon are ideal for children. Visiting the Vallée de Mai, boat trips to Curieuse to see the giant tortoises, and nature walks create unforgettable memories for the whole family in a secure, paradisiacal setting.
You will especially enjoy:

The Seychelles are considered one of the most prestigious honeymoon destinations in the world. Sunset at Anse Source d’Argent, a candlelit dinner on the beach, an overwater suite with a view over the lagoon, a bike ride on La Digue: every moment in the Seychelles as a couple is a bubble of tropical perfection, carried by the absolute beauty of landscapes you thought were reserved for dreams.
To enjoy as a duo:

The Seychelles with friends is a trip of vast seascapes and unlikely getaways. Organized island hopping from Mahé to Praslin and La Digue, diving in unspoiled marine reserves, Creole evenings in Victoria’s restaurants, renting a sailboat between the islands: the Seychelles with friends are an aquatic and cultural adventure where each day brings a new island, a new beach, a new experience.
Not to be missed:
The Seychelles are the only granitic oceanic islands in the world. All other oceanic islands are of volcanic origin. These granites, 650 million years old, are fragments of the ancient continent of Gondwana. The pink and ochre granite formations that line the beaches are unique on the planet — that’s why the Seychelles look like no other destination in the world.
The official currency is the Seychellois Rupee (SCR). The euro and the US dollar are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and tourist shops. Bank cards (Visa, Mastercard) work in tourist establishments. It is recommended to have rupees for markets, taxis and small local shops. ATMs are available in Victoria (Mahé).
The inhabitants of the Seychelles are called Seychellois. The population is a lovely mix of African, Indian, Chinese, Arab and European origins, reflecting the archipelago’s history. The resulting Seychellois Creole culture — with its cuisine, its music (Sega), its language — is one of the richest and most colorful in the Indian Ocean.
The Seychelles have three official languages: Seychellois Creole (the mother tongue of the majority), English and French. In tourist areas, English is universally understood and spoken. French is also very present, particularly on signs and restaurant menus. French-speaking travellers feel immediately at ease.
The Seychelles use type G sockets (British three-pin flat plugs, as in the United Kingdom). A universal adapter is essential for European devices. The voltage is 240V/50Hz. Large hotels often provide adapters on request, but it is best to bring one with you from Luxembourg.
From Luxembourg, the Seychelles can be reached via:
Between the main islands (Mahé, Praslin, La Digue):
