The climate is extremely varied. The north has very cold winters and hot summers. The central region (Shanghai) has four distinct seasons. The south (Guangzhou) has a subtropical climate, hot and humid. Spring and autumn are generally the best seasons to travel.

Chinese cuisine is one of the richest in the world. Each region has its own specialties. Try Peking duck, Cantonese Dim Sum, Sichuan hot pot (very spicy), and Shanghai’s Xiao Long Bao (steamed dumplings filled with soup).
