The climate is tropical, with two main seasons: a hot and humid season from November to April, and a drier and cooler season from May to October. Temperatures vary with altitude. The best seasons to travel are the local spring and autumn.

Piton de la Fournaise is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It erupts several times a year, offering incredible natural displays that are safe for the population.
The currency is the Euro (EUR). Credit cards are widely accepted. However, it’s recommended to have some cash for small shops and local markets.
The inhabitants are called Réunionnais and Réunionnaises.
The official language is French. Réunion Creole is also widely spoken and understood. English is uncommon outside tourist areas.
Type E electrical plugs are found. A universal adapter is generally not necessary if you come from Europe.
