Marrakech - at the heart of Moroccan souks

A city rich in culture, we dive into a magnificent oriental universe.
I loved Marrakech, its atmosphere and the well-being the city provides thanks to its very welcoming inhabitants.
A unique gastronomy and many activity choices, you never get bored there!!

My favorite

The Majorelle Garden

Visiting the Majorelle Garden in Marrakech is an activity I highly recommend.
This botanical garden is an oasis of calm and beauty, away from the hustle and bustle of the souks and lively streets of Marrakech.
The garden also houses the Berber Museum, which showcases the art and traditions of the Berber people of Morocco.
It’s a must for those looking to discover a more peaceful and artistic side of the city.

Taste a typical Moroccan Couscous or Tajine

Leaving Marrakech without tasting the local specialty would be a real sacrilege. It's an opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of Moroccan cuisine and savour dishes that are at the heart of daily life and celebrations throughout the country. You won't find a better Couscous or Tajine anywhere in the world.

Hot air balloon ride

From the sky, you will have a breathtaking view over the vast expanses of the Agafay desert, the traditional villages, and the Atlas mountains in the background. The sunrise during an early morning flight offers spectacular colours and magical light that bathes the land, creating perfect moments for photography. You can then enjoy a traditional breakfast.

Visit Jemaa El Fna square

This square, in the heart of the city, is impressive. Locals, tourists, souk vendors, and all the artists presenting their talents mix here. The square is lively from morning to evening, and you will find a multitude of products, food, spices, souvenirs. It offers a magnificent view of the Koutoubia mosque.

Wander through the souk and the famous Jemaa El-Fna square

During your stay, wandering through the souks is a must. Like a maze of narrow streets, you'll find an impressive variety of handcrafted products, colourful spices, finely woven textiles... This immersion in the beating heart of Marrakech offers a captivating sensory and cultural adventure.

My advice

I stayed at the Riu Tikida Garden hotel in the Palmeraie, a beautiful hotel with shuttles to and from the city centre (15 minutes).
I recommend it!
Then, for an authentic experience, I recommend staying in a Riad within the city to immerse yourself in the local culture and discover meals cooked by Moroccans within your Riad.
If you want to celebrate New Year abroad, Marrakech is a safe choice with its mild climate in the middle of winter.
