Fancy discovering Porto Santo, Madeira’s little sister island with golden-sand beaches, turquoise waters and therapeutic benefits unique in Europe?

Located 45 km northeast of Madeira, Porto Santo surprises with its radically different landscape: flat, arid and sun-drenched, it contrasts with Madeira’s lush greenery. Its treasure? A 9 km beach of fine, golden sand, unique in the Atlantic, whose therapeutic properties attract spa-goers from all over the world.

Beyond the beach, Porto Santo reveals a rich historical heritage — Christopher Columbus lived here before discovering the Americas — preserved seabeds, a world-renowned golf course and a rare tranquillity, far from the hustle and bustle of mass tourism.

Voyages Flammang offers you a tailor-made stay in Porto Santo, on its own or combined with Madeira, depending on your desire for relaxation, discovery and well-being.

A unique 9 km golden-sand beach in Europe

Porto Santo is home to one of the Atlantic’s most beautiful and rare golden beaches: 9 km of fine, soft, golden sand, sheltered by a wide, gentle bay. A dream beach, almost untouched, that contrasts radically with Madeira’s rocky coastline.

Sand with therapeutic benefits

Porto Santo’s sand is world-renowned for its therapeutic benefits: rich in minerals (calcium, magnesium, silica), it helps with rheumatic, arthritic and joint pain. Sand thalassotherapy attracts thousands of spa guests from across Europe every year.

Crystal-clear turquoise waters for diving

Surrounded by clear waters with turquoise hues, Porto Santo is a paradise for divers and snorkeling enthusiasts. The archipelago’s seabeds reveal preserved underwater ecosystems: volcanic fissures, schools of colourful fish and rocks carpeted with gorgonians.

Christopher Columbus’s House

Porto Santo played a major historical role: Christopher Columbus lived here for several years in the 15th century and married Filipa Moniz, daughter of the island’s first captain. The Casa de Colomó, a museum dedicated to the navigator, traces this history in Vila Baleira.

Seaside golf in an enchanting setting

Porto Santo is home to one of the Atlantic’s finest golf courses: the Porto Santo Golfe, an 18-hole course designed by Severiano Ballesteros, running along basalt cliffs and offering panoramic ocean views. An exceptional playground for golfers.

Generous sunshine and precious peace and quiet

More arid and sunnier than Madeira, Porto Santo enjoys 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, far more than most European destinations. The island lives to the rhythm of the beach, ocean sunsets and the Portuguese art of living, far from the crowds.
