Fancy discovering Madeira, the Portuguese volcanic island with vertiginous cliffs, enchanting levadas and a uniquely mild climate in Europe?

Perched in the North Atlantic, Madeira fascinates with its spectacular contrasts: lush mountains plunging into the ocean, deep valleys covered in laurel forest, natural pools carved from lava, and Funchal, its terraced capital bathed in flowers. The levadas, Cabo Girão, Pico do Arieiro and Funchal’s colourful markets make up a journey of rare richness.

Madeira can be discovered all year round thanks to its year-round spring-like climate: the mild, flower-filled winter from January to March, the radiant spring from April to June, the seaside summer from July to September, the bright autumn from October to November, and the magical Christmas lights in December.

Voyages Flammang can help you organise a tailor-made trip to Madeira, combining levada hikes, discovering Funchal, natural pools and exploring volcanic peaks according to your wishes and your budget.

A spectacular volcanic landscape

Born from the depths of the Atlantic, Madeira is a volcanic island with striking landscapes: vertiginous cliffs plunging into the ocean, mountains covered in laurel forest, lush valleys and wild coastlines. An exceptional natural setting that will take your breath away.

Levadas – hikes unique in the world

The levadas are centuries-old irrigation channels that criss-cross the island for more than 2,000 km. Laid out as hiking trails, they offer magical walks through laurel forests, tunnels and precipices, accessible to all levels.

A mild climate all year round

Nicknamed the island of flowers, Madeira enjoys an eternal spring with temperatures ranging between 17 and 27°C depending on the month. No excessive heat in summer, no cold in winter: an ideal destination in every season.

Funchal, a lively, flower-filled capital

Funchal, the capital, charms with its colourful spice market, its terraced botanical gardens, its lively old town, and restaurants serving the famous espada with passion fruit and the renowned Madeira wine.

Rich, authentic gastronomy

Madeiran cuisine celebrates local produce: grilled limpets, poncha (sugarcane spirit), tropical fruit and rare vegetables. Funchal’s markets are a tasty immersion into the Portuguese way of life, the cradle of an endearing island.

Easily accessible from Luxembourg

Madeira is accessible from Luxembourg in 3h30 to 4h30 by plane, via connecting flights in Lisbon or seasonal direct charters. As a Portuguese territory, no visa is required for European citizens.
